Review I Lancome Hypnose Mascara

It's not very often that I choose to own a high end mascara. They're typically a product that dries out or expires within only a few months and I'm happy to admit that I don't like having to repurchase expensive items all that frequently.

This Lancome Hypnose Volume mini mascara in Noir is really something that I've been impressed by recently and you might have seen this featured in my August makeup and beauty favourites blog post (see the post here).

This mascara is a mini version with 2ml of product whereas a full-size version contains 6.5 g and usually retails for around £20.50. I think this is definitely at the pricier end of the mascara price spectrum but there are sometimes gift with purchase offers and makeup sets which provide better value for money. This mini mascara actually came as part of a mini Lancome Travel Makeup set which contained a mini pencil eyeliner, juicy tube lip gloss and bi-facial eye make-up remover.

This is definitely one of my favourite mascaras that I've tried to date. It's really quick and easy to use and gives fantastic length and volume, even in just one coat. The formula is quite thick but neither too wet or too dry which makes it very easy, and not at all messy, to work with. It's super buildable and it's possible to build up quite a dramatic false lash effect. The shade Noir is a very black colour indeed which also helps to increase the dramatic effect. The brush is quite large and is of the traditional bristle variety. The bristles are relatively long and perhaps surprisingly, the brush is said to contain 1,000 bristles. The brush certainly does a good job of separating and evenly coating lashes without clumping.

I really like the way that this feels on my lashes as so many other mascaras make them feel dry and hard which means they are more likely to break or snap. Whereas this mascara makes my eyelashes feel soft and flexible and it contains silicone, glycerin and Vitamin B5 to keep lashes feeling supple. This stays on my lashes all day without smudging or flaking but it's easy to remove with my regular water-based eye make-up remover.

This is expensive at full price, but I think it is actually worth the money if you are looking for something special from your mascara and are willing to splurge a little.

Have you tried any pricier mascaras that you think are worth the money or any you think aren't?
